More new things happening at Camp Tannadoonah
Thursday, April 19th, 2007 by Ms. AmberWe have a number of projects underway up at camp this year, and we’re really excited about some of the changes.
First, we are in the process of building an amphitheater at camp. It will have a stage, a fire-pit, and seating for a full camp, staff, and visitors. We plan to use this area for our beginning of the week all-camp meeting, our daily camp sing, evening camp fires, skits and performances, and our Council Fire at the end of each week. We will also be able to pull up a screen and show movies or slide shows!
We are also building a brand-new low ropes challenge course. The elements of this course will focus on team-building and confidence-building. Campers who register for the ropes course will be divided into teams of 8-12 campers, and will work through the elements of the course for about an hour each day. We plan to include things like the “spider web”, the “porthole,” a “yogurt bridge,” “whalewatching,” the “mueze,” “all aboard,” “trolleys” or “giants skis,” the “wild woosey,” and many others! Each element involves team work to solve a particular problem with a fun story line. In the off-season of camp, we would like to make this course (and instructors) available to rental groups and schools who would like to teach problem-solving and team-building skills.
We’re really moving along on the planning for this year. We have a full staff of girl counselors already, and I am still looking for two guys (over age 18) who would like to join our summer staff. Apply online!
The early registration deadline for camp registration is approaching (May 1). In order to qualify for the $20 discount off of each session we need to receive your deposit by that date. Go to our registration page to sign up today! Some sessions are already starting to fill up, so get your name on the list soon.
Keep checking back for more news and information about camp! See you all this summer!
