Tannadoonah Fairy is a special week where counselors get prizes and pranks from their unknown “TF.” At the end of the week, they find out who their TF was.

It’s Harry Potter Week at camp! We have lots of exciting events taking place this week. Sunday, the 60 campers who are here this week played “Capture the Wand.” This was a variation on our typical game of Capture the Flag!

Monday was cookout, and we had “Dragon Tails,” a.k.a. hot dogs, over the fire. The cabins then had “cabin night” instead of an all-camp evening activity. Some cabins played a big game of flag football, while others played games in the dining hall, and others had a spa night, complete with showers, oatmeal masks, and fingernail polishing.

It rained overnight on Monday night, which was much-needed. Unfortunately, this morning was an Iron Chef breakfast. The campers and counselors worked very hard to get two cooking fires going, and even got most of their breakfast cooked before the rain came down again. They were real troopers this morning!

Tonight (Tuesday) we will have a Counselor Hunt. The counselors all hide around camp, and the campers and CITs will go around trying to find them. Once the counselors have been found, they get “punished,” just like in the One Way Street video shown below. It’s all in good fun!

Wednesday night we plan to play Quiddich out at the Sports and Games Field. The counselors on the planning committee have been coming up with lots of great ideas. In fact, each of the counselors has a Harry Potter identity for this week. Miss Amber is Madame Maxime, Miss Lori is Umbridge, and Mr. Chas is Hagrid. All of the counselors have identities, too!

Friday night we will have our costume party and Council Fire. Then we have a really special treat – we were able to order Harry Potter books for everyone who wanted one! We actually have quite a few extra copies that will be coming in on Friday night at midnight, so if you want to stop up at the Camp Store on Saturday (10am-noon) or Sunday (2-4pm), we will be selling them for just $25 (regular price in the store $34.99)!

We do still have openings for the two remaining sessions, and we would really like to add some more campers! Sunday, July 22 begins All Star Sports Week, and Sunday, July 29 we begin On the Loose / Wilderness Week. It’s going to be a lot of fun!!

One-Way Street is hilarious. The campers and counselors play games like “Red Light, Green Light” or “Giants, Wizards, and Elves.” Meanwhile, the “police” write citations for various offenses - “your shirt is too blue” or “you’re wearing sunglasses and the sun isn’t even out.”

When the games are over, the offenders go before the judge to receive their sentences. Sometimes they are pardoned, but the others are assigned various “punishments.” See for yourself.
